Family Law: An Introduction to our Jargon Guide

One of our top priorities is simplifying the legal profession so clients can understand the legal processes they are engaged in and feel equipped to make decisions moving forward.

Have you ever watched a medical drama on television and been in awe of the complicated medical diagnoses the actors have to not only remember, but deliver convincingly without tripping over their words? Or, more worryingly, have you yourself ever attended an appointment and left feeling more confused than when you arrived because it felt like they were speaking another language?

Most industries have their own language and jargon which seems a mystery to anybody outside the industry. At Frank Legal, one of our top priorities is simplifying the legal profession so clients can understand the legal processes they are engaged in and feel equipped to make decisions moving forward.

As such, the Family Law team has decided to kick off 2017 with some blog posts aimed at defining and explaining some of the most common terms you may come across in your family law matter. These terms have been selected on the basis of common confusions we have witnessed over the course of previous matters.

We hope we can be your Lonely Planet pocket translation guide for the sometimes baffling language of lawyers this month!

If you have a family law matter, concerns about how to get a family law property settlement or questions about family law and separation in NSW and want to find out more please do not hesitate to contact us on 9688 6023 or email us at info@franklegal.com.au.
