Alex & Co is a large, airy space with open ceilings. The protruding bar dominates the space and sets the tone of the restaurant. Contrasting features clash between cafe and bar, with planter boxes sitting next to colourful bar lights. It felt like a bar with the house lights on.
Value For Money - 3/5
The menu leans towards the expensive side of Parramatta establishments. Mains sit between $30 and $40. Although the meals were well portioned and satisfying, upon reflection of the bill we felt we had paid quite a lot for what we ate.
Service - 2.5/5
Our waitress was attentive and served us well. However, the open kitchen meant nothing could be hidden. We caught chefs sneaking fries and leaving containers of food out on the bench. Once we had finished eating, there was no follow up which was disappointing.
Quality - 4/5
The food was very well done. The bruschetta exceeded expectations. We ordered barramundi, steak, pasta and salad for a true and varied experience. Each of us felt satisfied with our dish with presentation, portion and taste. The food was the hero of the experience.
Alex & Co delivered a mixed experience. Although the food was superb, other elements left us disappointed.
