What To Do in September

Our list this month invites you to take advantage of the season and enjoy our city's great culture.

September has some great events to check out. This month features some local events showcasing family owned businesses and home-grown heroes, to world famous events with a global reach. With lots to see and do, our list has your September weekends sorted!

September - West Side Story

The iconic West Side Story has come to the stage at the Sydney Opera House. A modern re-telling of the classic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, the musical recounts the story of two teenagers in love separated by the gang battles between the Jets and the Sharks. The show is running until October 6th, so there are quite a few options for you. Grab your tickets and enjoy a night out!

September 8th - Let's Go Greek

The Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Parramatta are coming together to throw their annual Greek festival. The festival is taking place at the St Ioannis Greek Orthodox Church in the middle of Parramatta, meaning public transport is easy, and if you would rather drive, they are providing pre-booked parking through their website. The day includes carnival rides and children's entertainment, as well as food stalls, cultural exhibitions and cooking demonstrations. The night will go out with a bang with fireworks! Head over and be transported to Greece for the day!

September 15th - Sydney Running Festival

Once again, this month has a running event! If you have been saying, "I'll do the next one," this is your time! The Sydney Running Festival, also known as the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, is one of the most unique courses and is a tourist favourite, as you run past Sydney's iconic landmarks, and run over the Harbour Bridge. It has four options: 3.5kms, 10kms, 21.09kms (half marathon), and 42.19kms (marathon), so you're able to pick the most suitable course for you. Profits go back into Athletics Australia.

September 21st - TEDxParramatta

You may have watched a TED talk on Youtube, but now is your chance to actually hear a TED talk at the Parramatta event this month. The event features 8 speakers who are innovating and disrupting their unique areas, such as technology, environmental sustainability and sociology. Be inspired by these thought leaders in our local area.
