If you are in the Court, you may be required to go to a directions hearing.
In a directions hearing, the Court will consider the dispute in question and the respective situations of the parties. Hearing Directions are also usually heard before a registrar and not a judge. The Court then decides which documents should be filed and served before the matter goes to a hearing.
The Court will not decide the matter at a directions hearing. It will only make procedural Orders so that the parties and the Court can be prepared for the final or interim hearing. Nonetheless, a directions hearing is very important because it ensures you don’t appear in court for final orders only to be missing a crucial piece of documentation.
