Useful tips on starting a company

Written by Andrew Graham | 21/09/16 11:08 PM

A company structure can be a great way to own assets, including your business.

Before you incorporate (create your company), give some thought to the following:

  • What your (unique) company name will be (including ‘Pty Ltd’);
  • How will your company be governed?
  • What is an officer, and what are your legal obligations as an officer of the company?
  • Do you have the consent of those who will be involved with your company?
  • Do you understand your legal obligations regarding your company name, Australian Company Number (ACN) and Australian Business Number (ABN) and where they should be used?

Once your company is established, you will also need to consider financial reporting schedules, intellectual property protection and insurances.
