How to use your business advisory lawyer

It is extremely useful to know how to use your Business Advisory lawyer to make sure your business meets compliance regulations.

After finding out how often you should consult your BA lawyer, it is extremely useful to know how to use your BA lawyer to make sure your business meets compliance regulations and is on track to meet its goals.

  1. Ask your BA lawyer any questions or concerns – even if they sound silly to you. The only silly question is the one not asked;
  2. Provide your lawyer with all relevant information – it really helps us know what questions to ask you and what advice would be most beneficial for your business. Moreover, it saves everybody time (and therefore your hard-earned cash) if we can get straight down to business on your issue;
  1. As we mentioned last time, consult your lawyer before you sign any agreements which may substantially impact your business;
  2. Get your BA lawyer to draft your agreements (there is a chance that they can draft them in your favour!);
  3. Prepare for meetings with your BA lawyer and follow their advice – it will help you avoid risks and disputes;
  4. Consult your lawyer earlier rather than later – don’t wait until you have a problem to consult your lawyer!
  5. Ask your lawyer to clarify legal documents that you don’t understand. Legal jargon is difficult to comprehend, while Frank Legal adopts plain English drafting conventions wherever possible, unfortunately ‘legalese’ is sometimes necessary.
